“The world surely has not another place like Oxford; it is a despair to see such a place and ever to leave it, for it would take a lifetime and more than one to comprehend and enjoy it satisfactorily.”
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne
This is the doorway and a glimpse into the chapel at Magdalen College in Oxford. It was built between 1492 and 1509 and is still used to this day as a place of worship for students and staff at the college.
It looks so dark and mysterious. I wonder what is behind those doors and how much solace we can find in the darkness inside.
Molly, Great photo with a mysterious feel. Amazingly old. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Sylvia D.
