Looking up the outside of the Shard in London to blue skies. Towers over london

“Construction is the art of making a meaningful whole out of many parts. Buildings are witnesses to the human ability to construct concrete things. I believe that the real core of all architectural work lies in the act of construction. At the point in time concrete materials are assembled and erected, the architecture we have been looking for becomes part of the real world.” ~ Peter Zumthor

This is The Shard. At 95 storeys it towers over London from its position at London Bridge. It is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and the 4th tallest in Europe. The view from the outside, especially when you are directly beneath it, is quite something but if you ever get the chance to go up to the top then I highly recommend it as it will afford you a 360 degree view across the sprawling city that is London.
