“The seed of everything is in everything else.” ~ Anaxagoras
What I love about these seeds, because that is essentially what they are, is that they look like little lumps of wood. They are so shiny and smooth when they first burst out of their protective shells but over time they nestle down into the grass and the brown wood-like skin eventually splits open so that roots can form downwards and a shoot appears not long after growing upwards towards the sky. Sadly many of these trees are under threat in the UK from both disease but also development of land that has previous been left untouched. Yes we need more housing but we do have to be careful that in that quest we don’t destroy our natural world.
