Day 323 – Spherical Bristol

a spherical building. This is globe houses the Planetarium at the Science Centre in Bristol.

“There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners.” ~ Antoni Gaudi

Sadly having all our buildings this way would just not be practical especially in this country where we have a horrible lack of space. It is very crowded in the UK. However there is definitely something wonderful about a spherical building. This is globe houses the Planetarium at the Science Centre in Bristol. It is a wonderfully bold structure that sits on the edge of a pedestrianised square like some space ship from the future.

Interesting picture! I think the link of the horizon is a straight line, although it can curve if you see all of it from a distance.

Quite cool and fitting for a science building, especially one with a planetarium.
