“One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and – pop! – out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.” ~ Eric Carle
It is hard to tell from this picture the size of this beautifully fluffy caterpillar but trust me when I say he was not a tiny caterpillar and had definitely been filling his belly ready for the next stage in his life-cycle. I discovered him sunning himself on my front door and he was about 5cm long. Hopefully he will find somewhere safe and warm to wrapped himself up and over-winter ready for his new life next summer as a pretty butterfly.
Oh and the quote is from one of the best children’s books ever written in my opinion and when my kids cleared out the picture books they no longer wanted this one of the ones that I put to one side to keep because everyone should have a copy of this book no matter how old they are.
