“Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that’s been our unifying cry: “More light.” Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlight. Neon. Incandescent. Lights that banish the darkness from our caves, to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier’s field. Little tiny flashlight for those books we read under the covers when we’re supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor… Light is knowledge. Light is life. Light is light.” ~ Diane Frolov
This beautiful pool of light that is illuminating these people was coming in through the broken roof of the Melissani cave in Kefalonia. It was not discovered until 1951 when part of the roof fell in revealing the magical watery cave system below. If you ever get a chance to go there it is well worth queuing up to take one of the boat rides through the caves. It is truly a magnificent sight.
Wow, that looks like a great place to visit! Awesome capture.
You did an excellent job capturing the light.
