I like this. If you hadn’t said what it is I would have thought it something much sturdier. Re. Lucian Freud . . . with something like this . . . When anything is disconnected from its whole one is invited to think more carefully about it and the more attention we pay to something the more connected we become to it, and the more connected we become to it the more we grow to love it, and the more we love it the more real it becomes. Even the word ‘love’ is appropriate here because, without wanting to sound too fanciful, ‘loving’ the world and its contents makes us more ‘real’ too.
