“We must have a pie. Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie.” ~ David Mamet
This quote made me chuckle. I have no idea how a pie eases stress but maybe it is because there is something so neat and perfect about them. In the UK, unlike in America, we are huge fans of the meat/savoury pie and when done well they are basically a whole meal, meat and vegetables all wrapped up in delicious pastry. We do sweet pies as well but here in the UK a pie shop will be predominantly selling savoury delights. We didn’t buy any of these in the picture as were staying a hotel and had no where to keep it but they did look absolutely mouth wateringly good.
Hi Molly,
First, before I forget, thanks for coming to the Marmelade Gypsy and leaving such a nice comment! I’m so glad to have discovered your blog and signing up for email notes! I love the photo a day idea!
And savory pies may be my favorite (although a good cherry pie is something to love!) A friend of mine hosts a pie party where everyone brings a pie — sweet or savory — to the potluck table. It can be quiche, chicken pot pie, a tart or something else, so long as it is a pie. I love the idea but I have a feeling I’d fill up before I got to the dessert!
Although I enjoy a sweet pie, but a meat/savoury pie is just as tasty! I agree with the David Mamet quote, pie makes everything less stressful.
