Horse whispering a secret into a mans ear

Day 17 – Horse whispering

“You can kiss me if you like," she said. Alex let go of her and turned away. "Thanks, Fiona," he said. "But frankly I'd prefer to kiss the horse.” ~ Anthony Horowitz Whilst out for a walk recently this horse took quite a fancy to my husband. It took us a few moments to realise that he has discovered the the 3 days of stubble on my husbands face felt really nice being brushed against the top of his lip. He stood there holding his face close and pulling his top lip up and down over and over again lightly…

Regal looking swan with coloured head

Day 336 – Regal

“There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe This swan stood out from the others. He was by far and way the largest and had this distinctive cooper colouring on the top of head that actually made him look rather regal. I don't think I have seen a swan quite like it before.

Mr Wawa tabby white cat face is an ecological disasters

Day 326 – Feline disasters

“I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior.” ~ Hippolyte Taine My husband recently told me he read a very long article that explained why cats are ecological disasters. I was slightly pleased to hear that part of that argument was about litter and litter trays which I have never indulged in. My cats are very much the outdoor types which I believe is the only way cats should be. I do understand their ecological impact though but I can't help myself when it comes to cats. I am truly a bit of…

Day 268 – Free range cats

“I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe I often wonder about the lives our cats lead when they are out and about. They have a cat flap and free range to come and go as and when they please. One of them, Rita, tends to stay near home, in fact she really likes to stay in and sleep on my daughters bed. Mr Wawa, pictured above, is a bit more adventurous. One of his favourite places is on top of the garage from where he can survey everything at the back and the…

Spider web shimmer rainbow colours in sunlight

Day 264 – Spider Rainbows

"Poetry is a fresh morning spider-web telling a story of moonlit hours of weaving and waiting during a night." ~ Carl Sandburg This was taken in the later afternoon as the sun was dipping low in the sky. I love how the web seems to be glistening with rainbow colours where the light is catching it. I took it with my macro lens hence the shallow depth of field and only a slim portion of the web being in focus. Again I like the result though because it has created very subtle little bokeh effect. I am not a particular…

Cat prowling towards the camera

Day 217 – Prowling

"Prowling his own quiet backyard or asleep by the fire, he is still only a whisker away from the wilds." ~ Jean Burden Trying to get a cat to co-operate for a photo is like trying to change water in wine. It just isn't going to happen but with some patience, timing and lot of good luck every now and then you can capture them being so perfectly, honestly cat.

Day 190 – Wasting time

“I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it.” ~ William Shakespeare If going out for a walk with camera in hand is wasting time then have wasted a great deal of it. However I have never felt that to be the case. Quite the opposite in fact. It is an activity that restores me and nurtures me. It never gets boring to me and that tells me a great deal. If that day ever happens then maybe I might start think I am wasting time. In the meantime I shall continue to explore the world, all…

Lamb tail in green grass

Day 167 – Little Lamb

“Mary had a little lamb, His fleece was white as snow, And everywhere that Mary went, The lamb was sure to go." This field was full of lambs with their Mothers. I spent a long time trying to capture them cavorting round but they were just too unpredictable and all the images came out a bit blurry.  However I really like this one of this little fella happily feasting away on the lush green grass with his woolly white tail clearly all on show. The dark shadow to the right is his Mother who was giving me a good hard…

Cat with large shadow on the pavement of superior cat Mr Wawa

Day 146 – Superior one

“The way to get on with a cat is to treat it as an equal - or even better, as the superior it knows itself to be.” ~ Elizabeth Peters Oh how true this is. This is Mr Wawa, not his first appearance here on my 365 project. He so utterly convinced of his superiority that we often call him King Wawa because that is what he thinks he is. King of everyone and all he surveys. There is no doubt in his mind as far as I he is concerned he is the boss of us and his quiet…

Reflection of our treasure home in the television

Day 92 – Treasure

"The home should be the treasure chest of living." Le Corbusier The kids are out, the sun is streaming through the windows, there is cat, sleeping, as only a cat can, a man I love is relaxing on the sofa. It is peaceful and calm, the treasures of home reflected inside my TV.
