Day 204 – Play Me

Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram and has been touring internationally since 2008. As part of London’s celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee 50 golden street pianos where spread across London landmarks and beauty spots for any member of the public to play and enjoy. I found this one being played in Borough Market.

Play me I'm Yours

He says, “Son, can you play me a memory
I’m not really sure how it goes
But it’s sad and it’s sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man’s clothes.”

~Billy Joel, Piano Man

  1. Toronto ripped off this idea and has them all over the city for the PanAm Games upcoming… That looks like a lot of fun though

  2. What a fantastic idea. A great way to share music, fun and art with everyone.

  3. I saw something about these pianos on the street somewhere else. What a cool idea, except I wonder how they keep the elements from ruining the piano.

Actually we did see another on our travels that day by The Monument in the City of London area and it appeared to be wearing a raincoat!

  4. Oh yes, I love this idea!
More this kind of fun, all over the globe!

  5. What a great idea! Instead of doing away with our music programs in schools we should be encouraging music by London’s example. Wonderful shot of sharing music and the creative muse.

  6. What a cool idea. I love the artistic and interactive aspect of this.

  7. Fantastic picture, Molly. Thank you for sharing. I love Billy Joel’s music. Have a great Sunday! (I follow your photos through the week – and am so happy to receive them in my mailbox!)

  8. What a neat piece of interactive art/music!

  9. So fun – with her drink and bags right there, the shot captures some of the spontaneity of the street art.

  10. I love the picture and the whole concept. Interactive art is awesome.
