This beautiful statue by David Wynne stands on the north bank of the Thames within the shadow of Tower Bridge. It has been here since 1973 and finding it again the other day with Sir bought back some childhood memories. It is located on one of the many routes that my Father and I used to spend Sunday’s exploring on our bikes. We always stopped here and I can remember my Father making me shriek with a mixture of fear and excitement as he hopped over the wall and pretended to go down the step ladder into the river Thames below. He never made it into the water but always did a good job of fooling me into thinking he might.
