Girl ballet dances triptych

Day 59 – Dances

Dance till the stars come down from the rafters Dance, Dance, Dance till you drop. ~W.H. Auden She loves dancing. I actually took this a little while ago and it is been lingering on my computer. She is more grown up now but the dancing bug has not gone away, In fact I would go so far as to say it has intensified. She goes to lessons, she dances at school, she dances in her room, in the kitchen, in the dining room. She dances with her friends, she dances on her own. It is probably one of the greatest…

Fruit market in borough market london

Day 57 – Eat more fruit

“You can never, never, ever go wrong eating more fruit.” ~ Nancy S. Mure Fruit is yummy, apart from Rhubarb which is the fruit of the devil and utterly disgusting stuff. We have a rather large pine tree growing in our garden that is blocking out the light and killing the grass. One of my plans for this year is to have it removed and I am going to replace it with a fruit tree. I already have a Quince but I think an apple tree would be the perfect addition.

People looking at the view from the top of the Shard

Day 42 – Viewing

“What use is care? What good is watching for that matter? People are forever watching things. They should be seeing. I see the things I look at. I am a see-er.” ~ Patrick Rothfuss This was taken on the viewing platform in The Shard in London. The view is stunning but it was interesting watching people and seeing just how many of them seemed utterly uninterested in that view. I am not sure how you could stand here and not be transfixed by this unique and glorious view but it made for interesting watching

Glass building Tunisia airport

Day 36 – Made from glass

"Don't build a glass house if you're worried about saving money on heating." ~ Philip Johnson This is not a problem for this building as it is an airport in Tunisia but I have to wonder if the same applies to air conditioning. The whole thing, every wall and I mean every wall, was made from glass, floor to ceiling. It really did make a visual impact especially from the inside where the gleaming marble floors reflected all the light making it look like everything was floating on a glass floor. The light, the reflections and the lines of the…

Black and white portrait of young girl

Day 28 – Portrait of her

"A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he is being photographed, and what he does with this knowledge is as much a part of the photograph as what he's wearing or how he looks." ~ Richard Avedon She knew I was taking her picture but she chose to ignore me and carry on reading her book. As a general rule she likes being my model but sometimes she just can't be bothered with it. What she does not realise is that sometimes that is my favourite response because then I get to take a portrait of her…

Horse whispering a secret into a mans ear

Day 17 – Horse whispering

“You can kiss me if you like," she said. Alex let go of her and turned away. "Thanks, Fiona," he said. "But frankly I'd prefer to kiss the horse.” ~ Anthony Horowitz Whilst out for a walk recently this horse took quite a fancy to my husband. It took us a few moments to realise that he has discovered the the 3 days of stubble on my husbands face felt really nice being brushed against the top of his lip. He stood there holding his face close and pulling his top lip up and down over and over again lightly…

Aqua green eyes of young girl

Day 16 – For she has eyes

“For she had eyes and chose me.” ~ William Shakespeare This is my daughter and that makes me biased I know and yet there is no denying that she has the most beautiful eyes. The edit has turned them an aqua green but the truth of the matter is they are steely blue. She has an abundance of dark hair and slightly olive skin tons all of which make the blue eyes stand out even more. The shape of our eyes are almost identical but the blue is most definitely a gift from her Father.

Young girl watching Passenger in concert London Apollo first live music gig

Day 12 – The First One

Now we've got holes in our hearts, yeah we've got holes in our lives Where we've got holes, we've got holes but we carry on ~ Passenger At the end of last year we went with my children to see Passenger in concert. For both my kids it was their first live gig experience and so I was super delighted that we go their earlier enough for them both to be near the front especially my daughter who, like me, is on the short side. As for you can see from this shot she was utterly lost in the moment.…

Day 9 – Therapy

“Some seek the comfort of their therapist's office, other head to the corner pub and dive into a pint, but I chose running as my therapy.” ~ Dean Karnazes What's your therapy?

Mobile phone lights at Passenger concert in London, little lights song

Day 2 – Little Lights

"We're born with millions Of little lights shining in the dark And they show us the way One lights up, every time you feel love in your heart One dies when it moves away" ~ Passenger Just over a month ago we went to see Passenger in concert. When he sung this song, an absolute favourite of mine, he asked everyone to 'light up' which they did. It was an amazingly beautiful sight, the whole place glowed and twinkled. Sadly I only had my camera phone with me so the quality of this image is not perfect but I think…

Train foot bridge in black and white. Journey on

Day 366 – Journey on

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ~ Ursula K. Le Guin Here I am again, another year completed. If you don't already know this is my 5th year of the 365 Project. It has been a great journey and I can't believe I have been doing it for 5 years. It is has completely transformed my photography pushing me to see more, do more, learn more, experiment more. Now would seem a good time to stop, after all 5 years is a real achievement, or maybe…
