Young girl watching Passenger in concert London Apollo first live music gig

Day 12 – The First One

Now we've got holes in our hearts, yeah we've got holes in our lives Where we've got holes, we've got holes but we carry on ~ Passenger At the end of last year we went with my children to see Passenger in concert. For both my kids it was their first live gig experience and so I was super delighted that we go their earlier enough for them both to be near the front especially my daughter who, like me, is on the short side. As for you can see from this shot she was utterly lost in the moment.…

Unloved Black and White os Shredded Wheat factory in Welwyn Garden City

Day 7 – Unloved

"The space within becomes the reality of the building." ~ Frank Lloyd Wright And when the space within is abandoned and unloved that becomes the reality of the whole building. This was, as you can just make out from the former sign, the Shredded Wheat factory that is in my town. Shredded Wheat left nearly 10 years ago. There has been much fighting and debate about the future of this building but whilst that all drags on it sits empty and slowly but surely disintegrates.

Train foot bridge in black and white. Journey on

Day 366 – Journey on

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ~ Ursula K. Le Guin Here I am again, another year completed. If you don't already know this is my 5th year of the 365 Project. It has been a great journey and I can't believe I have been doing it for 5 years. It is has completely transformed my photography pushing me to see more, do more, learn more, experiment more. Now would seem a good time to stop, after all 5 years is a real achievement, or maybe…

Black and long exposure of Christmas tree

Day 359 – O Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Much pleasure thou can'st give me; How often has the Christmas tree Afforded me the greatest glee! I am not a huge fan of Christmas. I find the whole present buying part of it very stressful but there is one thing that I do love and that is my beautifully twinkly Christmas tree.

Day 352 – Gift wrapped

"It matters not what the custom may be, For Christmas is loved by you and by me! Yes; the years may come and the years may go; But, when December wind doth, coldly, blow, We all, I guess, are just children once more And we plan our gifts, as we did of yore." ~ Gertrude Tooley Buckingham

Day 345 – Delight for the soul

“To see in color is a delight for the eye but to see in black and white is a delight for the soul.” – Andri Cauldwell Sometimes the light makes a thing even more beautifully perfect than it already is. If you are very lucky you capture that moment in your camera.

Day 341 – A little more dance

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” ~ Osho

Midst of Knowledge Tennyson poem on floor of British museum

Day 338 – Midst of Knowledge

"Forerun thy peers, thy time, and let Thy feet, millenniums hence, be set In midst of knowledge, dream'd not yet."Thou hast not gain'd a real height, Nor art thou nearer to the light, Because the scale is infinite."'Twere better not to breathe or speak, Than cry for strength, remaining weak, And seem to find, but still to seek."Moreover, but to seem to find Asks what thou lackest, thought resign'd, A healthy frame, a quiet mind." ~  Lord Alfred Tennyson  This is on the floor as you enter the beautiful and majestic British Museum in London. It is a rather long…

Black and White of Fungus toadstool in woods

Day 331 – Wood wide web

“Trees live in symbiosis with hyphae (fungus/mold roots). A tea spoon of dirt contains kilometers of these roots. One species can spread throughout entire forests over centuries. They exchange nutrients with trees, along with information about insects, drought and other dangers. It's like a 'wood wide web'.” ~ Peter Wohlleben

Day 324 – Choices

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” ~ J.K. Rowling Which path do you choose? Sadly I find more and more people are picking the path of intolerance and that makes me hugely sad but also very scared for the future of the human race. Intolerance only ever leads to bad outcomes. History has taught us that over and over again. We ignore that history at our peril.

Day 317 – Wild beauty

“I am longing to be with you, and by the sea, where we can talk together freely and build our castles in the air.” ~ Bram Stoker I love the sea. No matter what time of year it is there is something so alive and exhilarating about it that lifts my spirits. Even on cold cloudy days there is a wild beauty about it that makes me smile. In fact maybe on those days it is even more beautiful than on days when it glimmers perfectly in the summer sun.
