Day 131 – Quince Blooms

Quince blossom

“They dined on mince, and slices of quince, Which they ate with a runcible spoon; And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon.” ~ Edward Lear

Yes these pretty little flowers are Quince blossom and my tree in the garden is absolutely covered with it. It flowers fairly late in the Spring and as a result it’s fruits are one of the last to be ready. Traditionally I tend to pick them in the middle to the end of October. Every year my Mum takes them away and turns them into beautiful bight red Quince jelly.

It’s magical that something that gorgeous turns into something delicious!

Very cool and delicately pretty. A runcible spoon, is that like a spork?

So awesome to have two delights from one plant. Lovely flower and great jelly. 🙂
