Day 9 – Sick!

Wilting roses in a vase

Wilting roses in a vase
O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,
Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy:
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.
~The Sick Rose by William Blake.

I’ve always found roses that have started to expire their last breaths, rather beautiful..

Lovely capture and one that instantly evoked a feeling of sadness in me. Still, it’s beautiful.

that is exactly how I feel – but less colorful. This is actually kinda cool how they all bowed out at the same time.

  3. You know I have never taken a picture of flowers once they reach their expiration…but this is beautiful!

Gorgeous vibrant colors… it’s a shame to throw them out when they’re still so beautiful. Will you keep them as dried flowers?

I reflect all the other comments here in saying that roses do maintain beauty on all stages of its life.

The colors are so vibrant even in their post glory days! I’m sure there is a metaphor here somewhere.

Love how the colors intensify as the petals dry.

I love the papery texture the petals have, once they start to wither.

Hope it’s not you that’s sick! The roses still have such beautiful colour.
